Oralia's Biography

Born and raised in Burley, Idaho, I am a third-generation Mexican-American. I worked in the fields and a potato factory until I graduated from Burley High School. I then graduated from Idaho State University and George Fox University; currently, I am a grad student at Boston College, seeking a degree in Pastoral and Hispanic Ministry.

Twenty-four years ago, I married my husband, Paco. We have four wonderful children: Zach, Veronika, Saul and Zuli. All our children are current or former students at Saint Joseph's, which is affiliated with The Cathedral of Saint John the Evangelist.

Paco and I have been active parishioners at Saint John's since Father Henry arrived and started offering Spanish Mass in 2002. I started working at the Cathedral in 2010 as Hispanic Ministry Coordinator and served in that position until January 2016, when I became Pastoral Associate.

My hobbies include reading, studying and retail therapy. ;)

I speak English, Spanish … and Spanglish!
